Jason writes:
"It's a super independent feature about a film student from New Jersey who becomes homeless and starts living in Grand Central Station in order to pay his way through film school, based on the writer/director's real life.
It was on this movie that I had one of my favorite filming experiences ever. The movie was supposed to end on a sort of down note but we were shooting what was essentially the final shot on a beautiful Friday night in Union Square (we were stealing it but somehow managed to block off and light a whole large section). Because of the nature of this we only could do a few takes. The director and I were huddled together watching a small handheld monitor while sharing a comtek for some reason I can't remember and suddenly the actors played the scene totally differently and it was spontaneous and beautiful and both of us actually teared up. But it was almost entirely different than what was scripted. The director instead of calling cut turned and whispered "Will this work?" and we sat for a minute, both thinking over what we'd shot and what could be altered, before he spoke again, "Well we're gonna find a way for it to now." It just showed how a movie is a constantly evolving piece of art."

August 6th: TWELVE opens in theaters
Script Supervised by Sharon Watt
"I was surprised to find myself working on Twelve - a low buget indie movie, shot on the Red Cam, with a veteran Hollywood director Joel Schumacher. However I quickly learnt that Joel is one of the most adaptable and energetic filmmakers I have encountered, and embraced the prospect of learning some new tricks from an independent movie crew. He knows how to move fast and his force really drives a set, crazy though it may be. Although he rarely interfered with the technical aspects of filmmaking, he always knew why a shot wasn't working and at the age of 70, his mind was as sharp as anybody's on set, if not more.
Many things stand out about the shoot: from Joel insisting on reading all OS phone dialogue himself to support his actors as much as possible (even if it took him away from the monitor!), to him clamping his hand over my mouth and taking over a particularly vulgar piece of VO speech I was shouting on set ("I didn't want you to have to say it !"). He also was incredibly generous and always listened and gave props to any good ideas from the crew, and of course he had the best stories to tell from his colorful life as film director and bon vivant! Who doesn't want to listen to stories about 'The Lost Boys', 'Falling Down' and 'Batman Forever' whilst writing up a shot?"
July 30th: THE EXTRA MAN opens in theaters
Script Supervised by Sharon Watt
"The Extra Man gave me another interesting opprtunity to work with a husband and wife writing/directing team but also the unique experience of having Bob Pulcini, who is also the editor, sitting next to me for the whole of the shoot. As you can imagine, it was a script supervisor's dream! Any editorial or continuity issue was understood, supported, and fixed, Bob would talk through his cutting ideas and options with me, and whenever the DP was trying to get away with an outrageous cheat, the editor would jump in to wrangle the situation!
Also it was a revealing experience to have Jonathan Ames, who is the author of the book on which the film is based, around on set. Despite some of the quirky and bizarre scenarios, Jonathan was always there to point out the autobiographical elements. In particular, there was a short flashback scene dubbed the 'Tie Dipping Scene' - a top contender for being cut from the script. Quite rightly it survived and when we finally shot it on the last day, Jonathan turned up just in time to demonstrate exactly how the action unfurled...."
June 11th: Sundance Grand Jury prize winner WINTER'S BONE opens in theaters
Script Supervised by Andrew Cesana
"Winter's Bone was a fun but tough shoot. Arctic conditions in the morning, then humid sweaty heat midday and back to arctic at night. The locations were all in the sticks of Missouri and couldn't be anymore authentic or amazing when you can actually see the beauty in them.
Debra Granik, the director, is an amazing person to work with. She is definitely engulfs herself in the world of the film, where she understands and responds very much to the beats of the scene, more than any director I've ever worked with. Bottom line, Debra had an amazing script and directed the actors to give worthy performances that live up to the essence of the script.
I think as far as my own experience, it was funny because I never have worked on a 110 pg film that timed out to an epic 6 hours and 43 minutes. Ahhh yes... The power of editing!
Overall, I'm proud to have been part of the film and its a great feeling that all our work paid off in the end with such an incredible response!"

May 7th: ENTRE NOS opens in theaters
Script Supervised by Veronica Mulero
"This is my second Spanish speaking movie that is playing in theaters, and working on this set was quite unique. With the two directors, Paola and Gloria, we worked on communicating- who was directing when, and how we communicated when Paola was acting. This clear communication with us three women was such a great experience that they were willing to listen to suggestions to maintain the integrity of the movie. However, the highlight was the children that worked on this shoot. They were just like any other kids who can be tired, hungry, and just plain and simple being kids. But once the word "action" was said, they focused on their acting and they did it less than three takes. They were on point with continuity. They even asked me," Veronica do you remember where this was? So I tell them the answer, and they said, "WOW! You have a good memory. I will make sure I will not make a mistake with you."

April 23rd: PAPER MAN opens in theaters
Script Supervised by Sharon Watt
"I was thrilled to work on this film as I was familiar with the project from the 2004 Sundance Filmmakers Lab, where it was very clear that the 'superhero imaginary friend' script was the funnest project on the mountain. Apart from a rewrite which restaged the story in Montauk, the script was intact in all it's quirky glory. The film was quite a project for set dressing continuity as it's about a writer holed up inside a winter cottage, and since he has chronic writer's block he creates elaborate procrastinations and is constantly moving stuff around - most notably a huge couch. It was a also a great movie for props with numerous dead animals to play with: birds, squirrels, raccoons, fish, lobsters....This was my first film working with a husband and wife directing team - I followed it up with another couple on 'The Extra Man - so for a while I was quite used to threesomes in video village. Sometimes it can mean more wrangling to get decisions made but the offset is that if you have a sex scene, you have the perfect people to block it out it for the actors!"
April 2nd: THE GREATEST opens in theaters
Script Supervised by Tony Osso
"Working on The Greatest was fun because it was another job with producer Lynette Howell, who has become a good friend of mine. It was also the first time that I worked on an entire feature with a DP who does not operate - John Bailey. This guaranteed that there were always director's chairs set up, and the image on the monitor was always impeccable. Susan Sarandon was also pretty fun on set. When I saw this movie at Sundance, I was surprised by how much audible sobbing was happening all around me in the theatre. I did three features that year, all dealing with grief ("The Messenger" and "Welcome to the Rileys"), and I was happy to move on to happier projects..."
